Aerial Yoga and An Awesome Hens Night!

I had an absolutely awesome day yesterday!  No joke!

Yesterday I had my friend Shannon's Hens Day.  We started off the day by going to aerial yoga.  I almost missed out on going as there as an accident on the freeway as I was driving to the venue and Google Maps said that it was going to take a longs time to get to yoga.  Thankfully Google Maps was wrong with its traffic time and I made it with one minute to spare.

So, you are probably wondering what aerial yoga is.  Well, it is basically yoga, however you are suspended in a circus hammock.  As you are in a hammock, it gives you a lot more freedom to push your body and do amazing things.  It is also lots of fun!!

As you might have known from some of my previous posts, or if you know me well, I am a huge scaredy cat.  I am not very flexible (I use to be when I was young) and I have no coordination.  I always have a fear that I am going to hurt myself, and I generally do hurt myself doing things.  The funny thing is, that for the first time ever, when I was doing the aerial yoga, I had no fear.  I wasn't scared of falling out of the hammock and on to my head. I was able to push my body and do lots of amazing things I never thought I could do!

The only position that I found scary was when we had to do the splits and then unravel down.  It was so scary but so much fun!

I was so scared!!!!

But I did it and it was so much fun!!!

I really want to do it again, so I am going to look into some lessons!

We then went back to another friend's place and had a few drinks (soda water for me) and then got ready to go out.  On our way to our evening venue we stopped and had dumplings for dinner.  They were delicious - B, we are so going to go back there for dinner one day!  Unfortunately, they were eaten really quickly, so I didn't get a photo of them.

After our quick but yummy dinner we went to Red Bennies to see a cabaret show called Paris Underground.  The show was really good and included singing, dancing, magic, comedy, acrobatics and fire!  It was a really good venue for a Hens Night.

After the show we all sat around and had a few drinks and a bit of dancing.  I'm 100% sure that the bride Shannon had an awesome night.

And I'm also sure that everybody else had lots of fun too!!

Sorry for the blurry photo!

And a huge THANK YOU to Jen for organising everything.  I woke up feeling perfectly fine this morning as I wasn't drinking.  But I also took advantage of our bar tab last night by having three drinks at once.

Orange juice, soda water with lime and Coke Zero!

I am so glad that I went to Shannon's Hens Day.  I was really nervous about going as I was a bit worried about aerial yoga, which turned out to be fun.  The cabaret show was also awesome.  The lesson that I have learnt from the whole experience is that it is important to step out of your comfort zone as you will never know what can happen.  Me, I learnt that aerial yoga is awesome and I want to do it again!  I also learnt that you don't have to drink alcohol to go out and have a fun night.  And the final thing that I learnt was that I have made some awesome friends through the 12WBT.

Take care!

Lady Lou!

  1. It was a great day - I found I had a new appreciation for the person at the end of the show who did the acrobatics stuff on the silk ropes :)
